Live Workshop: Entering Samadhi Through the Senses

Event Description

November 30, 2021 @ 4:00 pm 5:00 pm PST

In meditation of the Zen school, the senses are not suppressed or ignored. Rather, they are themselves direct gates to the meditative state (samadhi) and awakening itself. Here Meido Roshi instructs more regarding the manner of using the eyes and ears in Zen practice, commenting on the famous words of Shido Bunan Zenji – among the greatest of Japanese Rinzai masters – who said that in Zen we must merely learn to “see directly, hear directly.”
